Keeping up with the news these days means being constantly exposed to a succession of alerts, risks, and tragedies — something multiple studies link to rising anxiety and fear in the population. It was in this context that NOVA FCT, competing for notoriety with other universities for the best future scientists, needed to give greater visibility tothe school.

Corpcom and NOVA FCT created a responsible alternative to put scientists and professors at the service of society, in order to provide answers to the public's main concerns. From an inexplicable bad smell in Lisbon to the threat of nuclear war, from a series of earthquakes to the tragic derailment of the Glória Funicular, we created a direct communication channel with editorial decision-makers. This allowed us, on the very day of these events, to have a regular presence on television, radio, and in the press, providing rigorous scientific explanations that brought calm, context, and rationality.
In 2025, there were over 120 interviews and appearances, about half of which were on television across all channels, reaching millions of Portuguese people. It was proven that it is possible to survive the media noise, or at least explain it, because that is also what science is for.
